Our approach combines the best features of existing water treatment models by scaling up proven household water treatment and safe storage (HWTS) technologies to treat enough water for an entire community, which is then sold by local women at an affordable price. Selling the treated water generates revenue to cover future costs of water treatment, while also enabling the women who run the business to earn an income. All of the revenues generated from these water businesses stay in the communities, ensuring community involvement and sustainability."
